Today is my dear friend Marilyn Bailey’s birthday. I hope she is resting peacefully in Heaven. Marilyn was my first America friend when I came to the U.S. as an immigrant student 30 years ago. She took the time to introduce me to American culture and history. We spent a lot of time together - reading books like The Great Gatsby, listening to classical music at the Symphony, etc. Marilyn was a wonderful person. She was the most generous and kind human being with a big heart. She was always willing to help others, especially immigrants.

To honor Marilyn on her birthday and to pay her compassion forward, I established The Marilyn Bailey Foundation, a foundation that will help immigrant students and families advance their education and careers.
